Reading the Word is…

Have you ever had a moment where the Holy Spirit speaks to you and says the most simple words yet it is the most amazing revelation you have ever received? That happened to me recently. I honestly don’t even remember what I was doing when the Holy Spirit shared that “reading the word is spending time with Jesus.”

I wish I could use the emoji with 2 hands on the face and the mouth dropped. When I tell you I had not thought of this! I knew based on John 1:1 that the Word is Jesus and Jesus is the Word made flesh. But I had never thought about how when you are reading the Bible, you are literally spending time with Jesus.

In any healthy relationship with God, there is praise, prayer, fasting, devotion to His word, tithing & offering, serving, etc.. For some reason, I viewed devotion to the Word as more of a thing you do for yourself rather than to dwell with God. The Lord reminded me that while it is a manual for life, it is also a love letter. It is the greatest expression of love the world will ever know. And He created it so that we may know more about Him. The only way to get to know more about someone is to spend time with Him. How can we spend time with Him - by reading His Word!

2 Timothy 3:16-17 “ All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.”

If I am being honest, I believe I am going to be chewing on this revelation for a while!
