Listening is a form of submission.
Is it just me or do you see the peace and joy on this sheep’s face, too?
I imagine this is what the sheep of Jesus look like. Why? Because when you follow, you simply submit to leadership. Disciples do not argue the way, they simply follow it.
John 10: 27 says “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.”
When we listen to God, we are accepting His covering. When we listen to our husbands, we are accepting his covering. When we listen to our Pastors, we are accepting their covering. This is God’s design.
Covering is a gift that God has given all members of His bride. Out of His abundant love for each of us, He has given us a personal guide, the Word of God -which is Jesus, to be our way to all things good, including eternal life. Every command, boundary, and assignment is for our own good. His voice leads us closer to Him.
Deuteronomy 10:13 “And you must always obey the Lord’s commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good.”
Submission is truly beautiful and takes a grand amount of trust. It requires putting yourself under the authority of another. This is not because you are less than. In the Kingdom of Heaven, God operates only in order. God is the head of Christ, Christ is the head of man, and the man is the head of his wife.
1 Corinthians 11:3 “But I want you to know that the head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man, and the head of Christ is God.”
Oh, to be led each step of the way and trust that where He is taking you is right where you are supposed to be is a blessing! I am guilty of trying to go my own way many times. Nonetheless, it is the Lord that knows the right way. (Jeremiah 29:11)
While it may seem inconvenient and opposing to our own plans, let’s dare to submit. Anyone can follow their flesh, it takes humility to listen to the voice of God and follow Him.
