The LORD is our Father

Genesis 1:27 (MSG) “God created human beings; he created them godlike, Reflecting God’s nature. He created them male and female.”

The woman is part of God marvelous creation. It’s beautiful to see how God designed her with unique differences for His purposes. Women have a natural instinct to nurture, a sincere desire to help, and an innate ability to birth things. Just as special as what He created us to do is where He created us to be: with Him. God is not just our LORD, He is our Father. He’s not just our judge, He is also our dad which is why He craves intimacy with us, because we are a part of Him.

1 John 3:1 (NLT) “See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him.”

In this season, my Father has been teaching me how to simply enjoy His presence and rest in Him. Rest does not equal laziness, it’s just a certain assurance to really knowing God, His character, and nature. I’ve always referred to God as Lord in my prayers, and He is. He is showing me that He is just as importantly my Father. He loves us, cares for us, and wants to see us succeed. He wants to give good gifts. And He wants us to depend on Him.

I encourage you to find rest in your position as a daughter of our Father. I do understand if it doesn’t come naturally to you to trust, rest, and depend/wait, nonetheless… our Heavenly Father longs to love us fully and conditionally (Isaiah 30:18). It is our responsibility to receive His love. From this strong foundation of intimacy with God we have the pure heart and clean hands needed to do His will.
